VoIP phone system maker Allworx (News - Alert) has released version 6.8 of the software which powers its 6x, 10x and 24x phone systems.

Allworx’ phone systems offer calling features which are not obtainable in PBX (News - Alert)/key-systems in the same price range. Presently, the company is upgrading its product line with exclusive applications including unified communications, multi-language back up for global and multi-cultural SMBs, and numerous other additions.

"VoIP technology has reached the point in the deployment stage where SMBs are now reaping significant benefits from the lessons learned by early adopters on the Enterprise side - and the Allworx systems have been designed, and continually refined to incorporate all of the features that SMBs need," said George Daddis, CEO of Allworx, in a press release. "With tens-of-thousands of Allworx IP phones and systems already deployed in the SMB market, we've incorporated feedback from our resellers and end-users, and we've used this feedback to deliver our latest update that addresses the real-time business needs of our SMB customer base."

Version 6.8 of the software offers new features including Follow-Me-Anywhere Calling, which enables users to have incoming calls search out specific lines or concurrently ringing several numbers with the inclusion of mobile phones. Users can also choose to allow calls from other specific users to ring through or be forwarded to voicemail. They can also merge all voice messages to either a sole voicemail box or a particular email box and abolish the requirement to verify manifold message zones.

The new version also offers Off Site Access Calling, which permits off-site employees to make outbound calls from the company network. This helps SMBs avoid needless calling charges from carriers in the user’s distant location. The upgraded software also offers SMS Notification and Escalation of Voicemail, offering multiple users with the choice of receiving SMS text messages through the company network, with Caller ID information to their cell phone or digital pager, every occasion a voicemail remains in an individual’s or other person's voicemail box. Allworx 6.8 also offers Remote Multiple Voicemail Indicators that allow users of the same handset to perceive the nature of messages that are present in multiple voicemail boxes.
